The Brief
The client wanted to create a contemporary swimming pool extension that would enhance the way the home was used and provide a private leisure space for the family.
The existing property had a generous garden setting, but the client wanted the new extension to make better use of the relationship between the house and outdoor space. The brief was to design a pool area that felt bright, open and connected to the garden, while remaining practical, comfortable and well integrated with the existing home.
The design needed to feel modern without appearing disconnected from the original property. Large areas of glazing, careful roof design and considered material choices were used to create a calm, high-quality space suited to both everyday family use and entertaining.
The Planning Challenge
