This contemporary zinc-clad country house in Long Bennington was designed as a replacement dwelling for a retired couple seeking a calm, spacious home set within two acres of landscaped gardens.
The architecture combines clean, modern lines with a restrained material palette, allowing the building to sit quietly within its rural surroundings. Zinc cladding provides a durable, low-maintenance envelope that will weather gracefully over time, complementing the soft tones of the landscape.
Large areas of glazing are carefully positioned to frame views across the gardens and bring generous natural light into the living spaces. The internal layout is arranged for single-level living where possible, prioritising comfort, accessibility and a strong connection between the house and its mature garden setting.
