This contemporary self-build house in Harby was designed for a young family and sits comfortably within its rural setting, taking full advantage of far-reaching views across the surrounding landscape towards Doddington Hall.
The form and material palette draw inspiration from local agricultural buildings, with simple, robust massing that reflects the scale and proportions of nearby barns. Rough-sawn cedar cladding wraps the exterior, weathering naturally over time to blend with the surrounding countryside.
Internally, the house is organised around generous open-plan living spaces that support modern family life, with integrated home-working areas positioned to benefit from natural light and views. Carefully placed openings strengthen the connection between inside and outside, creating a contemporary home with a calm, agricultural barn-like character.
