Adaptive reuse of historic Nottingham lace mill
Provident Works is a 58-studio student accommodation scheme created through the sensitive conversion of a Grade II listed former lace mill in Nottingham.
The project carefully balances heritage conservation with contemporary living, retaining the building’s historic fabric and industrial character while introducing high-quality, self-contained studios designed for modern student needs. Original architectural features are celebrated and integrated within the new layout, giving each studio a distinctive sense of place.
The conversion delivers comfortable, functional accommodation while safeguarding the building’s significance and contribution to Nottingham’s historic lace market area. Provident Works demonstrates how adaptive reuse can successfully extend the life of a listed building.
