Contemporary living within a listed landmark

This project involves the contemporary extension and remodelling of a listed windmill within the Eakring Conservation Area, carefully balancing heritage significance with modern living.

The historic structure has been sensitively restored, with internal spaces reconfigured to enhance usability while celebrating the unique circular form, original fabric and dramatic vertical proportions.

A clearly articulated contemporary extension is introduced at ground level, using refined materials and generous glazing to contrast yet complement the listed building.

Large glazed openings create strong visual and physical connections to the remodelled gardens, drawing daylight deep into the heart of the home and framing carefully considered views.

The landscape design incorporates a separate garden office, linked by paths and planting, creating a cohesive setting supporting flexible living.
