This project involves the contemporary extension and remodelling of a listed windmill within the Eakring Conservation Area, carefully balancing heritage significance with modern living.
The historic structure has been sensitively restored, with internal spaces reconfigured to enhance usability while celebrating the unique circular form and original fabric. A clearly articulated contemporary extension is introduced at ground level, using refined materials and generous glazing to contrast yet complement the listed building.
Large glazed openings create strong visual and physical links to the remodelled gardens, drawing light into the heart of the home and framing key views. The landscape design incorporates a separate garden office, connected by carefully considered paths and planting, creating a cohesive setting that supports flexible living and working while respecting the windmill’s historic character.
